commercial fleet has moved to Stock Island, where the yards and the deep
berths are.
So "the charter docks" is no longer one place. It is three. Which one you
want is set by the operator you booked, not by what is near your
hotel.
Worth a minute. It is the cheapest mistake here to avoid and the most
expensive to make.

Key West Bight and the Historic Seaport
In Old Town, walking distance from the tourist end of the island. Convenient if you are staying down there and have no car.
Every operator sets its own. It is earlier than the boat leaves. It also
varies with the trip: an offshore run starts before a half-day on the
reef.

If your booking says Stock Island, do not drive to Charter Boat Row — they are different places on different islands and the boat will not wait.
What is Charter Boat Row?
The strip of charter berths at the Key West City Marina on Garrison Bight, off North Roosevelt Boulevard. It is the oldest and best-known concentration of charter boats on the island, and it is what people usually mean by "the charter docks" — but it is no longer where the whole fleet is.
How do I make sure I go to the right dock?
Get the dock name and the street address at the time you book, not the morning of the trip, and put the address rather than the business name into your maps app. Several operators share a marina, and a business name will not always resolve to the right berth. Then ask what time you need to be standing on the dock, which is earlier than the departure time.
Do all the charter boats leave at the same time?
